Crimes against lipstick
Full disclosure? I was in a bad mood when I filmed this.
Everyone’s allowed to have an off day, right? But instead of calling my mum to whinge as per usual, I channelled my energies into a rant. About lipsticks. Naturally.
So I’m just going to say sorry from the get-go. It’s all in good fun though, and hopefully some of you can relate to my pet hates about lipstick - which may seem insignificant, but is actually the greatest make-up product of all time.
If you’d rather not hear my voice (I don’t blame you!), you can keep reading to see what I managed to complain about for almost three minutes.
Lipstick crime #1 - Using your fingers
Please don’t be afraid to pop the lipstick straight on your lips. The colour will glide on a lot easier, I promise!
Lipstick crime #2 Pressing too hard
Are all your lipsticks curved? When applying them, ease up a little with the pressure and you’ll find they’ll last a lot longer.
Lipstick crime #3 Missing the corners of your mouth
Get right in there! You’d be surprised how much better your lip colour will look if you get into every nook and cranny. If you’re worried about getting lippy on your teeth, use the finger trick when you’re done. And voila!
bh's Sam all-time fave lipsticks:
- L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Made-For-Me Intense Lipsticks in 373 Magnetic Coral
- Maybelline New York Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencil in Berry Much
- Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick in 113
- Avon Over Nature Lipstick in Orchid Fantasy
- Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 in Jealous Coral
How do you apply your lipstick? Are there any make-up sins you can’t stand?

Yuck never use my fingers on lipstick but there are some great tips for getting your lipstick right.
Absolutely love lipglosses and lipsticks with applicators they glide on so easily and you can put as little or more as you like, no fingers.

Eeewwwww never ever ever use my fingers to apply lipstick. Yucky. I’m a germ freak. Too many germs on your fingers. As for the lippies, I love YSL lipsticks. They look and feel luxurious. I did have a few, but I’ve only got one left now. It’s a beautiful pinky nude colour. I can’t remember what it’s called. If I could be bothered getting up off the couch I’d go and have a look!

I love lipstick and probably guilty of keeping a lippy too long! It will eventually break off on you or get very dry...but if you love the colour, one will go to great lengths to make it last! lol!

It's interesting the way some people manage to make a lipstick "deformed" always and others keep the shape perfect until the end of the tube.

The 4th crime would be not exfoliating flakey or dry lips before applying lipstick.

And always exfoliate the lips first. Nothing worse than flaky lips made more obvious by lipstick

Haha luckily I don't make any of these mistakes. But I prefer gradient lip colour so I usually just apply lipstick in the centre of the lips, then using a finger to blend to the corner

I just did something many here will cringe even cry about: I got as gift a ...nude lipstick. Gosh how I loathe those. So what I did with it after swatching? I opened the bullet to the top and just ...wooops....'dropped' it. It was so satisfying! "die you ugly thing, die" hahahah

Yohanna, your comment gave me a great laugh! I also loathe the nude/concealer lips trend.
