Wearable beauty looks from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week 2015

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia kicked off on Sunday night and since then, we’ve seen A LOT of incredible make-up looks. Runway make-up is usually a little ‘out there’, but this year, as I made my way around backstage, I was surprised and inspired by how wearable the looks were. Here are some of the stand-outs and where/how I’d wear them in real life.
Zhivago
The look: Cleopatra with a Las Vegas flavour
Where I’d wear it: On a night out

Ignore the crazy black bob wig and just LOOK at the eyes. I’d definitely rock this on a girls’ night out. Victoria Curtis, make-up director and creator of Curtis Collection, said the make-up artists used a kohl pencil to create the smoky base, and then went over it with both bronze and gold shimmer pigments. To do it myself, I’d ease up a little with the kohl pencil but still use the gold pigments for the glam effect. I’d keep the lip simple by using a nude stain like NYX Cosmetics Jumbo Lip Pencil in Pecan.
Curtis Collection Mineral Pigments in Exotic Airess (left) and Yellow Diamonds (right), which were used on the models' eyes. ($27.50, www.curtiscollection.com.au)
Michael Lo Sordo
The look: Polished and chic
Where I’d wear it: On a date

I absolutely love the combination of a velvety complexion, contoured cheek and berry lip. I think it’s a very romantic look and exactly the kind of hair and make-up I’d wear for a date. For the eyes, I’d opt for a single bronze matte shadow (from a palette like Bobbi Brown Hot Nudes) with a few coats of mascara. I’d replicate the models’ pouts with the help of Maybelline New York Color Drama Lip Pencil in Berry Much all over the lip. I’d also try to copy the effortless bun by first pulling my hair back smoothly and then using my fingers to release the layered, wispy bits.
Daniel Avakian
The look: Soft and simple
Where I’d wear it: A job interview
Yes, this is a look from fashion week! It’s hard to believe, given it’s incredibly wearable and natural just as it is. This is the kind of look I would wear to work or a job interview. I’d use a BB cream for light and natural coverage (something like jane iredale Glow Time ™ Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream), then a mixture of bronze and dark brown shadows on my eyes (from a handy palette like Paula’s Choice The Nude Mattes). I’d finish off with a few coats of mascara (Lancôme Grandiose was the one used on the models).
Akira
The look: Light reflective and textural
Where I’d wear it: A music festival
While this look is OTT for an ordinary day, it’s pretty perfect for a music festival. The sequins were placed over the models’ eyebrows, but if I were to recreate it, I’d stick them above my brows to accentuate my eyes. I’d keep the red lip (M.A.C used Lady Danger) and white sequins, but if you wanted to change it up with different coloured sequins, just go for a neutral colour on your lips.
Which of the above looks is your favourite? Would you ever recreate any?

I love that red M.A.C. lip! I'm usually a fan of a soft and simple look, but that red lip is very striking.
