Best Hollywood Hairstyles of 2013
If there’s one thing we appreciate here at bh HQ, it’s a brilliant hair look.
In 2013, we’ve been wowed with some blinkingly brilliant red carpet hair looks – so we thought it only fitting to share them with you, in the hope that you might be inspired to get inventive with your ‘do, too…
Nicole Richie’s marcel wave
One of the absolute standouts, Mrs. Madden is well aware that old school glamour is back in a big way. The soft finger wave frames her face and adds a touch of elegance to her look. Needless to say, this look scores a 10/10.

Lea Michele’s braided ‘do
Lea has always been a sleek-stranded, flouncy-haired kind of girl, so when she showed up on the red carpet in a pretty pink frock and super tight braids, we were both taken aback and thoroughly impressed.

Isla Fisher’s sleek side strands
This year, middle parts took a bit of a back seat so that side partings could well and truly shine. High on Gatsby glamour, Isla rocked a stunning side-swept ‘do with slightly curled ends – and by golly gosh we were jealous.

Miley Cyrus’ balayaged crop
Back before the infamous short chop with pigtails at the VMAs, Miley rocked a brilliant balayaged crop. The stunning shoulder-length ‘do featured a brilliant gradiant from dark to light and suited her to a tee. (Miley, come back to us!)

Selena Gomez’s fishtail braid
We loved this high-crowned ‘do on Selena at the MTV Movie Awards this year. She rocked that gold dress and the fishtail braid that came over her shoulder was bang on trend and the icing on a thoroughly gorgeous cake. Without a doubt, fishtail braids are the standout style for 2013.

Ke$ha’s two-toned tresses
Okay, while this definitely isn’t the best look of the year, we had to give Ke$ha snaps for her two-toned pastel locks. Given, they’re not exactly two tone as you know it, but hey – they’re better than what she normally comes up with – and pastel hair can work well if you keep it to the ends. Plus, we like the colours!

Bella Thornton’s sausage pony
It can be difficult to come up with ways to jazz up the humble ponytail. Bella Thorne rocked the red carpet earlier this year with a stunning Olivia Wilde-style sausage ponytail and we just loved it.

Michelle Williams’ pixie cut
We gasped when we saw that Michelle Williams has chopped off her lovely long locks – but we needn’t have worried – she pulls off the pixie crop with gusto. It’s platinum blonde and a fantastic cut, but what else did you expect from MW?
Best product to get the look: a good hair cutter and Schwarzkopf LIVE Salon Permanent in Extra Light Pearl Blonde.
Taylor Swift’s 1920s curls
Taylor is another celeb that tapped into the old school glamour trend this year. We just adore her head of tight, finger wave-style curls. They’ve been pinned to exactly the right place on her head and depict a sexier brand of curly-haired Taylor.

Bella Thorne’s milkmaid braid
Bella Thorne makes the top 10 again, with a stunning relaxed milkmaid braid in her strawberry blonde strands. This look is as perfectly teamed with an elegant gown as it is a floral summer dress – and we think Bella looks cute as a button with it.

Jesinta Campbell’s colourful cornrows
Jesinta dazzled us this year with her skills on Dancing With The Stars. She waltzed and cha cha’d around the floor, but what impressed us even more than her dancing skills were her awesome hair looks. We particularly loved the colourful cornrows. How stunning are they when teamed with a deep side part and brushed out curls?!
Best product to get the look: colourful ribbon included as a part of your braid.
