Heres the official thread for Musq Cosmetics. I received samples of their foundation and I'm absolutely in love with them! Share your thoughts and feedback on Musq Cosmetics!
Reposting my comment from the "yay I won a prize" thread...
I usually struggle to find a foundation (any foundation - liquid or powder) to match my skin tone. Almost all drugstore foundations are no match to me, with the exception of L'oreal true match.
I found the teeny tiny smear that they provided in each pouch is all that's needed for a proper coverage. I didnt even need to use concealer as i just went back with my Real Techniques detailer brush and touched up on the areas that needed the additional coverage.
The foundation didn't have a scent to it - at least I couldn't smell it and my sense of smell was heightened after having my little boy (mostly his nappies from across 2 rooms - think of it like the head nun from the movie Madeline "something is wrong" sort of situation LOL!).
The foundation also has a good airbrushed look that I loved. My pores near my nose were minimised and even with highlighter on, it didn't show up too badly. I was quite surprised by how long it lasted - a good 8 hours.
I really like this foundation and since it has the additional benefits of being vegan, not tested on animals, peta approved and aussie made, i think it will be a good buy.
Thanks for starting this thread lubz!!
Did you use a powder to set it? You need to transfer the link to you wearing this foundation :D
Good point Oonga!
Here's my FOTD using the liquid foundation: https://www.instagram.com/p/BJgcDH8AvRy/
And this one using the powder foundation: https://www.instagram.com/p/BJmi2ozgHBy/
Both are light and don't feel cakey on the skin at all. My personal preference is towards liquids rather than powder foundation. I didn't use a powder to set the liquid. I found that I didn't need to set it for my skin in winter. I will have to test again in summer when my oily t-zone flares up and see how it works.
Looks great Lubz!
I just started following you too :)
I still haven't had a chance to play!
My boys always want to help me apply make-up, I got 10 minutes to myself this morning but I only got my skincare done lol
I was hoping on Father's Day they could annoy their dad for a bit!
Oh I tried their serum not too long ago and it is so lovely!! It smells like some candy from my childhood that I can't remember but it's sweet and lovely. It is sooo hydrating and has the consistency much like an oil so it's super easy to apply.
I also have their body scrub somewhere in my cupboard too but I haven't tried it yet, so I probably should...
Lubz I like both those foundations on you, but and it could be the lighting, angle etc the cream seems more flawless? or something?
PrettyPrincess Let the boys help you :D Seriously if they can apply it and get a good finish then you are on a winner!!
Laura That serum sounds so good!!
This was my 3.5 year old a few weeks ago, he run off with my blush and I found him 'hiding' lol
He actually applied it lol!
This isn't the best photo, but it was the most discreet one of him :)
hahaha how adorabubble!!! Seriously look at that focus and concentration!!
The next celebrity make up artist? ;)
The cream works better for me. I can't seem to get powder foundations to work on my skin.
Today i tried the powder version of Rajasthan.
I prefer this over the Malibu powder. But somehow prefer the liquid Rajasthan over the powder version.
Haha pretty princess, love it!!! My little one watches me when I do my skincare. He's always keen on trying out my potions. So when I apply my philosophy moisturiser, I have to apply a dab of cetaphil moisturiser on his palms so he can follow along.
Laura, that sounds fantastic! Just realizing the quality of the products now. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I'd never even heard of MUSQ and now I'm musq this as musq that!
Today I tried the creme sample (Kalahari) I think it is a pretty good match. I think the colour samples shown for MUSQ are actually really terrible, I think that would put a few people off.
I also have a sample of Talum, which I will try tomorrow, I think it might be a touch to pale (not that you would tell how pale it is from the website, Pale ladies, I'd ask for a sample if you are interested!)
Anyway, your right the little smear goes a long way, I love how it looks like my skin but better, a nice dewy, yet not to dewy looking complexion, I haven't set it with powder (old habit) as I want to see how it lasts.
I use the Kalahari too, PrettyPrincess. And I totally agree - the descriptions are not the best and samples are necessary.
Talum was the one I tried first and I had to wash it off. It was WAY too white. I looked like a mime. I'd be curious to see who actually needs that shade because I doubt I've ever seen anyone that pale - and I'm pretty pale. Someone must use it though!
What I've found too with the foundation having bought it, after you've used the sponge applicator once, you either have to toss it or store it elsewhere. After it gets sime product in it, it swells up and your compact won't close properly. I might actually pass that feedback onto MUSQ because a bigger applicator storage space is necessary.
The liquid/cream foundation looks flawless Lubz!!
Pretty Princess thank you for your update!! I look forward to your report on longevity, how it continues to feel etc at the end of the day, especially as you haven't set it with powder!
Lucrecia could you use a beauty blender for the foundation instead? Or would it work with a brush?
Dimmieloves I agree with you! Lubz looks like a model from a magazine wearing the cream foundation! Though she is naturally a stunner so that would help :)
I'm still loving the liquid foundation! It works well for me. Thank you dimmie and Oonga for the kind compliment :-).
Oonga, out of pure habit, I use the liquid with my fingers and then blend out with a brush. I don't know what it would look like in the pack - is it a bottle or a cushion ( will have to go investigate). Sometimes, I go in directly with the brush for a higher coverage.
Lubz looks like a compact from the photos on the website? Like a creamy compact :)
Musq have responded to my email this morning and will be sending me a sample of the cream foundation for colour matching. Excellent customer service so far with prompt responses and answering all my questions not just one :)
Off track Do you guys ever get that with companies?? I send an email that contains 3 or 4 questions and they respond to one question. I sit there looking at my email and their response and wonder if they actually read my email LOL!
Or maybe I just ask too many questions! eeekkk
I've only recently been contacting companies directly. Before that, I've been relying on other blogs and review channels for my information. I thought it was fine, until I decided to find out straight from the horse's mouth. :-) so far most of my emails to the company have been with just 1-2 questions and they have been answered. So, I don't know if they didn't read your email fully Oonga, or if they have a lot of emails coming in and they may have missed it.
I do tend to ask a lot of questions in general. Even my friends end up tearing their hair out with I DON"T KNOW!! Then I try to ask questions in a different way in the hope they will suddenly have an answer LOL!
I was pleased that Musq answered a question even right at the end of my email as well as answered the stuff in the middle. Kudos to them for reading their emails properly :)
Actually I sometimes break my emails up and ask 2 questions then they respond and i ask another 2 questions to make it easier ....... I mean it's not like I talk a lot!! Quiet as a mouse i am nods solemnly LOL!
I've also learnt at work now i have a male coordinator to simplify my emails with as little words as possible!
When i was studying for one of our assignments the lecturer said...
Now before I hand these assignments back I want to tell you all if you want to see excellent examples of this assignment talk to Oonga or Angela.
Both have answered everything clearly and covered everything!
Angela's assignment is point form very simplistic.
Oonga's assignment is very detailed with lots of references LOL!!
Sorry Lubz I think I have derailed this thread already. Back to Musq!!!
I received some samples from Musq the other day. Haven't had a chance to try any of them out yet though.
Love the colour of your eyeshadow in that powder foundation pic, beautiful!
Awesome Hayley!! I look forward to your review of the foundation once you get a chance to try it :)
Here are my light swatches.
Left to Right
Talum, Kalahari and Sorento
I haven't bothered trying Sorento on my face as I think it will be way to dark!
Thanks for that Pretty Princess!! Umm that Talum is that for Giesha's?
How did you go with the longevity of it on your face?
I received the Eimele meal replacements in chocolate and vanilla as a part of the trial team from BeautyHeaven and am very appreciative of the opportunity to trial something very close to my needs.
This Avene lip balm is a high quality product. It applies easily and my lips feel instantly soft and hydrated.
The way I used the meal replacement shakes was by doing an accelerated meal plan where I drank 2 shakes and ate one healthy meal per day.
