My poor old hair straightener has almost come to the end of its life and I need to buy a new one. I've noticed you can buy straighteners for anything from $30 to $300. What's the difference? What's a good one to buy? Any recommendations?
I love my Jilbere de Pais Euro 3200 straighteners. I got them to replace my GHDs and have found that they are better and much cheaper. I got mine on sale at David Jones for about $120. Very much worth it.
I don't know if there is a best straightener but I know the ghd is very popular.
I myself recently bought a cloud nine and I love it. It straightens my hair very well and leaves it shiny. I haven't tried to use it to curl my hair so I don't know if it does a great job at that.
I suggest you go to hairhouse warehouse or petra and try a few different ones and decide what works best for your hair. If you are spending a couple hundred you should do research and trial to ensure you make a right decision.
Thanks for posting this forum up. I was wondering if there's a tool you can use for both straightening and curling or you have to have two different? They all kind of look a bit the same.
GHD! I love mine - curls and straightens perfectly :) Had it for about 5 years and still going strong!
I really do love my pink GHD-it works perfectly for my hair. Definitely see if you can try some out before buying so you can get the perfect match for your hair :)
You are able to use a straightener to curl your hair but you need to know the technique. You can have a look on Youtube to see how it's done.
Well I have a Karmin straightener and it makes awesome curls too, but you can just use a curling wand if you curl your hair often and you prefer to get it done faster without having to twist your arm around. A curling wand gets you any curly or wavy style as long as you use the right technique. Try Karmin Products Line!
I was very confused as well but before I purchased my Karmin G3 curling iron I watched the review, perhaps it will help you, here's the link http://www.karminhairtools.com/au/karmin-g3-salon-pro.html scroll down and listen/watch the review.
I thought I might bump this up instead of creating a new thread!
I'm looking into buying my first straightener (yay!) and GHD and Karmin are wayyyyy out of my price range of under $100.
I have fairly long, thick hair so I'm looking for something that will heat up quickly, make my hair shiny (and not frizzy) and is easy to use all round.
Andy recs? :D
whitelacecollars a G3 Salon Pro is well worth saving up for, you will not regret it. For every one sold some money goes to children in need through the Karmin Cares Fund and that gives me a really nice feeling.
I have tried; cloud nines, halos and I have continued to resort back to GHD. I have naturally curly hair and the GHD is the only one that helps prevent frizz and keep my hair straight.
I know I'm a little late on the bandwagon but I recently purchased a Loreal Steampod and absolutely love it! It straightens my hair perfectly without all those little flyaways that normally appear when I use my old GHD. The steampod seems to hydrate and straighten at the same time which ensures my hair stays straight for longer and avoids frizz due to rain or humidity! Definitely worth a look if you have the chance!
rufus those things are $300!!! worth it, hey. I was drooling over it. Lol. Went with the cheaper steam straightener when it was on sale for half price. Not working so great for me! It's getting better thought, I might have gotten a dud :-\
My recommendation: Remington S9620 is the best choice. it is suitable for all hair types, both men and women with all the flat irons that come with superior features. Other features such as auto shut-off, digital display and adjustable heat up to 455F are very useful and save power and safe for you. I think you should choose it.

I love my cloud nine straighter. I'd so recommend this one
Prefer it over my old ghd.
Just love it its soooo great.
I love Cloud Nine straightener and prefer this over GHD by far.
My old GHD is almost come to the end and now i'm gonna buy another GHD for sure because any hair straightener cant beat GHD.
I love the GHD
I have GHD and Cloud Nine, and much prefer my Cloud Nine
Everything depends on the material used irrespective of the brand.. I would suggest you look for titanium or tourmaline hair straighteners because the ceramic ones heat up very quickly and can damage your hair.
Karmin's Salon Series hair straightener has ceramic floating plates but more importantly it has "Professional grade Far- Infrared Ceramic heating element for flash quick heating" and it is definitely the one I am going to upgrade to, will pass mine on to my granddaughter!
My GHD straightener is really great and heats up really quickly. Although it was pretty pricey, it was definitely worth it and they come in lots of fun colours too!
I did not want my comment to appear as spam. My intention was to voice my opinion on a hair product that i have found amazing and to share it with the ladies who asked for hair advice. Did not mean to offend anyone. My sincere apologies.
How to post about a product without it looking like a spam..??
Szn_D, your post DOES look like spam and I've reported it.
