i was just wondering what the best do it yourself hair dye is that is not permanent? I was interested in something like the loreal casting creme that lasts up to 28 washes, are there any other products like this?
i did have a look, it was just hard to see any others which weren't permanent and i was interested in others personal experience of the best one
Hey Stef, I'm addicted to the L'oreal casting creme. I don't put anything else in. I think they're best used for simply highlighting your natural colour. I haven't even considered using any other semi brand because I don't believe I could get any better results than I already do with my casting creme.
What colour is your hair and what colour did you want to change it to?
And you are right stef hun there isn't a lot of other semi products out there except the cheap ones like 'live' or the weird fudge colours. Majority stocked are the permanent ones.
I absolutely agree with Hely, Casting creme gloss is the best. I love the Iced chocolate for my brown hair.
And Live is the worst, horrible colours and stains everything that touches your hair for days.
I have used tone on tone ones like Country colours form Schwartzkopf. It is pretty good and it is semi permanent (right?)
For a more vibrant colour, highlights and to change (lighten or darken) your hair colour to a great extent, you have to use permanent.
For my hair I am right now considering Loreal Color experte which gives highlights too. But it is permanent.
Ooh, you're an iced chocolate girl too! Hurrah! I used that one the time before last but this time (last week) for some reason I couldn't find it so I decided I'd pick up Chocolate. No where near as good as Iced Chocolate.
When I think of the Live product I remember back to high school and to the girls who that it was so cool to put weird bright colours in (really tackily done too). I remember one day, this girl had put red in her hair (semi), she mustn't have done something right because our class had to walk in the rain to get to somewhere and the colour ran down onto her forehead and the collar of her shirt. Hilarious!
my hair is medium-dark brown and i just wanted a bit of a change- nothing drastic, maybe a reddish auburn colour or make it darker?. i looked at 'live' but they only last 6 washes and it seems really cheap i didn't know if it would be any good for my hair and afterr delicious girls experience i dont think i will try that.
Casting creme gloss all the way! Its a great product you wont regret it. It gives your hair that healthy looking shine.
i think i will have to give it a go after all the good reviews on it. I don't know what colour to use though.
Stef babe the chocolate one I put in recently has a slight reddish undertone. It'll darken your hair a smidge too.
It's not really a chocky when you think about it. Trust us hun. Casting creme is sooooo the only one you want to try. It last in my hair for ages too. I just like having a richer looking colour and this does it exactly right. Plus it's amonia free so no stinky hair when you're using it.
Yes Hely, dark chocolate was a bit dark for my hair and didn't give me highlights.
Yay for iced chocolate!
casting creme gloss has many shades, I'm sure you'll find one.
Hely since it lookslike we both have the same colour hair,(and seem to think alike, Great minds I know!) I was considering this shade from colour experte.
Only if can get the result like that! I loved the highlights.
Ha ha. Was just about to post that link. We think alike.
I'm thinking if you want a nice reddish colour then maybe go fo Black Cherry, Red Mahogany or even chocolate. Like I said chocky kind of gave me reddish undertones.
Ooooh, Yes DG. That is totally our colour. I love it.
What colour skin do you have?
I'm such a winger though cause as soon as the colour would start to grow out I'd be constantly onto myself about doing it again. lol
I'm a sucker for semis. They wash out and no regrowth.
I have medium, Olive skin (Indian), exactly like Aishwarya Rai (I'd kill for her looks though)
This one's a permanent though. But ammonia free.
Okay, well I'm snow white. And Aishwarya Rai is stunning. Definatley agree.
Hmmm, I'm prob not that confident in myself to DYI a permanent. leave that one to my hair dresser. I do love the colour you posted though. Are you really considering doing it? Maybe get a friend (that you trust, lol) to do it for you cause they'll be able to see round your head better.
has anyone tried nougat? i guess it woudlnt show up much on darker hair?
I'm so not good at doing it, I'd love to have the result. I was just reading reviews on BH, seems you need to be an expert for that, yeah, I'll pass this one. I have to get it done in good hands.
Especially with lightening etc. I don't trust anyone. But I love love love the hair in the picture!
Probably wouldn't show up that well sweet.
The trick is to pick one either a couple of shades lighter than your own natural colour or go a couple darker.
He he. Just had a cool futuristic thought. Wouldn't it be great if when you woke up in the morning you could choose what sort of hair you wanted that day. i.e. step into a machine and hey presto, long luxurious locks in any colour you want. he he. Keep dreaming!
ok so i'd say looking at the casting cremes my hair is about the colour of "light brown" naturally..what would you think would look good to use?
You could probably choose any of the colours in the middle row stef as they're isn't a big leap in shades (except for the last few towards the end on the right hand side). If you're looking for a nice read I think the Red Mahogany would darken your hair nicely but also give you the red you said you wanted without being too OTT.
I was about to say dark brown or praline. Praline is a shade darker and has some nice tones.
What a dream! Please invent something like that Hely, I would want silky straight hair too.... Better patent your invention, so no one steals your ideas!
Good thinking DG. I'm going straight away to copyright my idea. lol.
And yes DG. Prailine is very nice.I like it.
LOL I'll be your first costumer.
Stef, if you just want glossy highlights try John Frieda Colour Glaze for brunette hair, it does'nt give bright colour but enhances natural highlights and gives a great shine.
You can use it on coloured or virgin hair. It builds up colour and results get better each time you use.
I bought a Lancôme miniature perfume gift set and a 4mL bottle of La Vie Est Belle Eau de Parfum was in the set.
Having thick lips that can be dry, I have struggled with matte lipsticks in particular liquid formulas. I have been lucky to found a few brands that offer comfortable and long wear.
Someone you ask for lip balms would be me. My lips have tried and tested almost all kinds of lip balms on the planet. On top of having naturally plump lips, they can be dry and chapped.
