With winter upon us, my hair are dry and falling with dandruff. I would like to know which oil to use for an overnight hair treatment? I currently have olive oil. Is that good enough or any other hair oils that are worthy of a mention?
I have the same issue and much rather grapeseed oil. I've used olive and coconut as well but grapeseed is my favourite.
Head & Shoulders works wonders for me with dandruff issues. I just lather well and leave it on for 5 mins to let it do its magic. Literally banished all my dandruff, it's amazing. Haven't needed to use any oils after.
If Erum.z is like me it doesn't work for us and chemicals can make it worse. It's really dry scales of skin and the oil is to hydrate the scalp to stop it from getting so dry. The oil also gently lifts the dead skin as it gets trapped to the scalp and hair.
Yes its more dry scalp skin and not dandruff i feel. Thanks jodib I'll try the grapeseed oil and see. Also, another thing, which shampoo do you use post oil treatment? This is another big issue for me as most shampoos are not strong enough and clarifying shampoos tend to return my hair to their dry dry state!
I use coconut oil every now and again. My hairdresser has even used it on me after one of my haircuts.
The pureology cleansimg shampoo is a favourite and I do a second shampoo with pureology hydrating shampoo. I've also used apple cider vinegar on occasion. Personally I find grapeseed washes out easier than coconut or olive.
I tried the Redwin clarifying shampoo from Woolies purely for its price and i was truly dissapointed. Will give the pureology shampoo a try! Thanks jodib
I love pureology but the redkin one was good but drying. I used that after summer gym sessions
I like using unrefined organic coconut oil. It's great on your skin too to keep it moisturised especially during winter.
The organic coconut oil in the coles cooking oil aisle? Can that be used on your head too?
I get this in winter and I make my own scalp overnight product.
Use olive oil one teaspoon and one teaspoon of squeeze lemon. Leave it on the scalp overnight and wash off in the morning. It actually removes the dandruff and the scalp is cleaner as well as helping to promote hair growth.
I find olive oil better than coconut oil.
Also you can mix sugar and olive oil together and apply on scalp 30 min before shampooing for a scalp scrub .
Erum z, yes you can buy the coconut oil in cooking section it's just as good and sometimes better.
You don't have to spend a fortune km overnight oils.
Coconut oil is just a temporary mask for your hair. I recommend investing in 100% pure argan oil. I was using coconut oil and I realized that it wasn't doing anything for my hair, not only that it made my hair fall out more than it normally would. Coconut oil, in short, is too large of an ingredient to seep into the bonds of the hair, whereas argan oil is smaller, making it easier to get inside and nourish the hair.
I usually look for camellia oil as an ingredient in hair care products. Also known as tsubaki oil/camellia japonica/camellia oleifera (I call it the "oriental olive oil"). I've also suffered from a dry scalp for the longest time until I started using products with that in it, especially if there is a higher concentration of it included. I also use an Innisfree camellia oil hair mask. Gently calms the dry itch, hydrates and softens hair.
-1 for coconut oil. It was the worst thing for my hair. YMMV but it's a comedogenic oil so you should be wary about that, whether you use it for your hair or skin.
According to me daily use of coconut oil on hair will help you, of course, it’s best to use this at night and wash it out the next morning. If you use too much , use what you need and it will do good for your hair
Just use a good shampoo and condition when you wash the oil out etc.
I applied extra virgin olive oil for an overnight treatment and was pleasantly surprised with my hair!
I started using oil treatments in my hair about a year ago when my stylist used one on my hair. I love the Somaluxe Argan Oil! It makes my hair super shiny and brings out my highlights and lowlights big time.
The smell seems to last the whole day through too! Secondly, it contains my frizz in a big way which is nice because I heat style my hair and dye it and it was already frizzy to begin with before I started doing all that stuff.
Hello Hair oil is amazing, and I have also started using Journey Hair Care which is great as well.
I've suffered years of cystic acne which I took care of by getting on medication. My skin is clear now but I do have some scarring and textural issues from the acne trauma to my skin.
Thanks beautyheaven for including me in the trial team for the Dermaveen body lotion.
I received the Sebamed body wash as part of a beautyheaven trial team.
