It's okay if there's nothing, lol... feel free just to rant
Yes, the back to school things are out before the kids have even started Christmas holidays.
The supermarkets are getting things out earlier on all kinds of occasions, Christmas stuff starts appearing in October now. They say it is due to demand - so someone is buying buns and eggs. I have'nt seen them in my local Woolworths yet but I remember seeing them on sale last January and they were often marked as 'reduced to clear' .
I'm one of the people who buy them reduced to clear in Jan and that is only when they are over 60% off or more which happens quite often.
I've seen some Christmas stuff out in Perth shops in early September Lisa. The excuse I've been told is people have relatives overseas and need to get the presents posted by a certain date in October. The makes sense, to a point but who would be posting Christmas trees, decorations and cheap fruit mince pies overseas as gifts?? I noticed the back to school stuff out before New Years and all the Christmas stuff gone. They are so eager to push stuff before people get a chance to relax and process stuff, meaning it was Christmas last week and now, quick hurry, get ready for school which is weeks away. No wonder people are stressed. I don't mind the early hot cross buns, but think the cross should not be on there until Easter time. Easter chocolates now, who would be buying them in this heat for starters and don't most of us have a tonne of Christmas chocolates to get through before they start ramming Valentine's down our throats too, lol.
Noticed the local newsagents had Valentines cards out on Boxing day.
Also went looking for mince pies on Boxing Day, Mum bought some from Coles and they were really nice so I was going to buy a packet but the mince pies had been replaced with Hot Cross Buns...
@lisa359 I don't like it either and I will not buy Hot Cross Buns etc till closer to Easter or the date of the Special Occassion.
This (plus various others) in our supermarket.....
Shelves are more or less bare in our local Kmart. The place is a freaking mess! I went there during the week with a list, according to online they supposedly had stock, and came out with nothing. There was stuff everywhere. Mess mess mess!
I went to a different Kmart elsewhere yesterday with my list and came out with almost everything I wanted. There were still a few gaps in their shelves, but it was neat and orderly and easy to find stuff. Different management perhaps? Who knows! But I think we will bypass our local Kmart and drive just a bit further down the road to this one from now on.
I have noticed the difference in a couple of our Kmarts in Perth Rose. One suburb is pretty neat and well stocked and in another suburb it seems to always be a bit messy, but stock is ok. The messy one seems to be the customers just dumping things on the floor or on wrong shelves, food and drink stains on clothes, etc. In the centre with the slightly messy store the Target has been closed down and turned into a Kmart, so there are 2 Kmarts in one shopping centre. One is neat and clean and the slightly messy one is going to be closed in August when the lease runs out. Strange set up to have 2 in the one centre
I saw 2 women trying on tops at the messy Kmart a few weeks ago. The ones they didn’t like, they would just toss them aside, didn’t even bother to put them back on the coat hanger. They made absolutely no attempt to tidy up after themselves. So rude!
The shopping centre closest to us has Target (but not Kmart), and I was hoping that they would change it into a Kmart, but sadly no. Stock levels are poor, customer service is atrocious. All the checkouts are those stupid self serve things. I was there recently and there was a poor elderly lady was trying to check out her items. She was so confused and getting upset. I helped her do it, because there was no staff or anyone to help.
Remember the old days of customer service.......
That's pretty sad for the old lady and very nice of you to help her Rose, I wonder where the staff were?
I have heard of some of the shops like BigW, Kmart and Target having low stock and that because of what happened in China when Covid first hit being the reason. I guess if workers in China went into lockdown way back then nothing is produced and existing stock not shipped, then the ripple effect flows onto other countries and no new stock is getting onto shelves.
All the checkouts at my local Target are self serve but their is usually someone nearby to help if it's needed. I do feel sorry for the elderly when there is no other option apart from self service and if there is no one around to help.
Cleanliness is also an issue at self service kiosks as there is usually never any wipes or sanitiser at self service stations.
I’m an IDIOT! We went up the coast on Friday. It was an absolutely glorious day. We took the dog, and a great time was had by all.
I diligently applied my sunscreen to my face and décolletage area while we were in the car (the trip was just over an hour). I reapplied throughout the day to my face, but yep, you guessed it, forgot to reapply to my décolletage, and OMG OUCH I look like a lobster. It’s sore. There’s areas that look like they may blister. I’ve been applying heaps of lotion, and there’s no way I’ll go outside without sunscreen on it. It’s my own stupid fault. I’m usually so careful. I can’t believe how stupid I was!
But on a happier note, I went to Peter Alexander yesterday and they are having a ripper of a sale. It’s online as well. It ends either today or tomorrow. I got a gown and some slipper/thongs. And, believe it or not, I walked straight past Mecca and I didn’t go in! No, I don’t need an ambulance! I’ve just got hubby home on holidays and I’m on a bit of a no-Mecca spend for now. But he goes back next week.......
yay to the PA purchases.
I hope you heal well. I find the best is aloe vera gel.
Thursday Plantation make a really good aloe vera gel you can but it at supermarkets and chemists. At least you bought some bargains.
Ouch for the sunburn, but yay for the PA stuff! I picked up some PJ's & a pair of their slipper thongs during the sale as well; the thongs are fantastic (the PJ's are too but I've worn PA's PJ's before, so I have an idea of the quality).
I ended up buying THREE pairs of the slipper thongs! The sale price was $13.something. I got 2 pairs for me (one for now, one to stash) and a pair to give to mum. They are very comfy, and most importantly PINK! I got light pink for me and dark pink for mum.
As for the gown, I’m absolutely thrilled with it. But the cat seems to think I got it for him. He keeps stealing it and running away with it! I had it hanging on the clotheshorse to dry and he kept pulling it off. If I leave it on the bed he will drag it away and run off with it. I wouldn’t have thought that pink would have been his colour.....
Thats kinda adorable. Cats are funny
I thought about getting the dark/hot pink pair as well, but opted against it & instead bought a navy pair whilst they were on sale. Kinda kicking myself for not buying a 2nd pair though.
3 day lockdown in greater Brisbane which is ending 6pm today, panic buying again at supermarkets in greater Brisbane area and also areas outside lockdown zone. I live on the Gold Coast which is outside the lockdown area and virtually no toilet paper in the supermarkets over the weekend.
Haven't people learnt from previous experience, no reason to panic buy, the supermarkets aren't closing.
I heard that there was panic buying in Brisbane via the news. That would be annoying.
"Highly contagious strain of the disease "--- lets all go cram into a supermarket together like sardines...
do people think really?
Why would people panic over a 3 day lockdown ? It really is silly.
Now these people in other states are seeing just what Melbourne went through. It was shocking. We almost had to ration toilet paper out of fear that we couldn’t get anymore. I remember one night, about 10.00pm, and hubby suggested we go and check out the shops before they close, because there were a few things we were desperate for and hadn’t been able to get (toilet paper was one of these things). We pulled up out the front of Coles and I could see people inside with packs of toilet paper. I practically jumped out of the car and ran inside, leaving hubby to park the car. But by the time I got there, it was all gone. I just stood there wanting to cry. By the time he came along, I had been told that another pallet was coming out, so we decided that we ‘didn’t know each other’. Our youngest son was down to his last couple of rolls also. So here we were at 10.00pm on a Saturday night, a pallet of loo paper appeared and all these people were making a mad scramble for it. Nucking futs! We also managed to pick up a few other things we needed, but it took ages to get served. Then we came home. I just wanted to cry. It was awful.
My mum loves to cook. She couldn’t get flour anywhere. We were in a supermarket and they were unloading a pallet of plain and self raising flour. The limit was 2x each. So I got her 2, and hubby got her 2. Then we took them to her. The joke was that I got my mum the gift of flours! Haha! She was most grateful! So were we, because we always benefit from her beautiful cooking.
Ah what an experience. When it first happened and everything disappeared from the stores (i dont know how bad it was in other states but in Melbourne basically the stores were stripped of everthing and i mean everthing) I wasn't to fussed as we usually always have quite a bit in the pantry and quite a bit of loo roll but as the weeks rolled on and Woolworths remained mostly empty and coles and aldi had almost everthing back except for toilet paper i ended up waking up my mum and drove her to Coles for the pensioner shopping hour with 1 main task. Toilet paper. She got some on her second trip (everyones main focus was toilet paper and there was always people waiting at opening) timing was lucky as we were down to our last two rolls by then. Issue was that it was only a four pack and you could only buy one pack. So the next pensioner shopping hour I took her to the shops again to buy some more (nothing there) and again, the second time we got some it was a 24 pack which i was happy with and slowly toliet paper started to become available. Poor thing, she probably would of preferred to sleep in but I couldn't find the right hour to get some myself.
I highly enjoyed being able to add this to my daily skincare routine, one extra step, but worth it!
After the first use, my skin felt hydrated.
My skin feels well moisturised after a dry day, but can feel a little sticky if it is been too humid or if I am a bit oily that day.
