Five of the best eyeliner looks of 2012
Between the Oscars, the Emmys, the Golden Globes, the MTV Movie Awards and what seems like a billion film premieres, we’ve seen a lot of hair and make-up looks this year.
But today we’d like to focus on just a few of the brilliant ones – of the eyeliner variety, that is. It was not an easy job to pick just five, but we tried our best…
So, in no particular order, here is our pick of the five best eyeliner looks of 2012:
#1: Kristen Stewart – On the Road premiere, December 2012
Kudos to Kristen for making the bold move of lining her upper and lower waterline from corner-to-corner. It could have made her eyes look teeny-tiny, but instead has given her beautiful cat-like eyes. And finishing it off with a flick and heavy lashes? Absolute genius!
#2: Kat Dennings – Emmy Awards, September 2012
You might not think that Kat’s eyeliner is anything special, but we love how she reminded us that sometimes less is more. A simple line of black just above her top lash line, not an inch of eyeliner on her bottom line and just a light coat of mascara is a beautiful combination to complement any look.
#3: Natasha Poly – Cannes amFAR Gala, May 2012
There’s no denying we love a little winged eyeliner, but we have to give the Russian model props for keeping her flick small yet effective, and oh-so beautiful. Had she gone any thicker with the wing it may have been a bit too much with her glossy red lips.
#4: Bella Heathcote – Hollywood Film Awards Gala, October 2012
When it comes to thick winged liner, there’s a fine…erm…line between glamorous and OTT, and Bella really got it right, here. Tips to take from her look? Wear a nude or soft pink lip, make sure your eyeshadow is almost non-existent, and don’t even bother with your bottom lash line.
#5: Rosie Huntington-Whitely – Safe premiere, April 2012
Rosie’s focused all her attention on her top lash line – nothing on either water line, and nothing but a subtle wash of eyeshadow on her eyelid. This really helps bring out her top lashes (which are thickened and curled to perfection) and allows those blue eyes of hers to pop.
Which of these eyeliner looks is your favourite? What liner style do you love best (i.e. – winged, thick, subtle etc…)?
