Detox your body from top to toe

Happy New Year beauties! I love this time of year, it’s the perfect excuse to really get stuck into all of the things you said you’d do and haven’t gotten around to! It’s also a great time to undertake a complete body and health detox and set yourself up for the year ahead with a positive start. Here at bh we’re all about a helping hand, so below is our top to toe guide for overhauling your body ready to take on 2016!
Skin
With an endless supply of summer sun and Christmas indulgences (sugary treats galore), your skin is probably after a little extra love. If you’re not already using these products, now’s the perfect time to start. Think deep cleansers for an intense clean of your pores, as well as nourishing masks and moisturising body washes to get your skin looking fresh and glowing.

3) KORA Organics Hydrating Mask
4) Mary Kay TimeWise Day Solution Sunscreen SPF30
5) Aveeno Daily Moisturising Body Wash
6) L’Occitane Aromachologie Revitalizing Body Scrub
Hair
Salt water, humidity, chlorine and sunshine – none of these holiday elements are kind on your locks. To refresh and repair your hair for the New Year, you’ll need to nourish it with loads of moisture! Lucky for you, there are loads of awesome products to help save your strands.

Inner health
How you feel on the inside is absolutely reflected in how you look on the outside, which is why it’s super important to make sure you’re getting all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs. Busy work schedules and a hectic social life can often mean it’s hard to stay on top of nutrition (and let’s face it, sometimes it’s easier to skip breakfast at work and we’re not going to say no to a glass of vino when we’re out with friends). From daily supplements to monthly detoxes, there are plenty of options to stay on top of your inner health.

The New Year is the perfect time for a bit of beauty maintenance – clean your brushes, throw out expired products and of course, replenish your beauty supplies with the essentials like primer (as if we needed an excuse for a beauty shop!). Why not grab yourself a new eyeshadow palette and a bright, statement lippy to rock throughout the year? Go on, you deserve it.

Christmas is a terrible time for unhealthy eating etc. About to use Milky Foot, yet like the sounds of the moroccan oil shampoo. I swear by drinking plenty of filtered water and herbal teas, as well as eating healthy fats and green leafy vegetables.

I do not need to 'detox' as my body is doing a great job 24/7! Eating optimal diet really is the only way =)
Love face masks, and good body scrub/polish/dry brushing. Skin gets so clogged up living in the city (that grime...)

I spot-clean my makeup brushes after each use and I also regularly give them a more thorough clean. I sometimes go through my stash of makeup to get rid of anything that needs to be tossed.

Not really classified as a detox but I have a new year's resolution to look after my hair better - so I'm going to buy a new hair brush - now for which one?!

I am planning this, well actually I started before New Years and started with detoxing my bathroom of all unnecessary/unused/unwanted products, detoxing my hair ahead of a big colour change going silicone and sulphate fee and a body detox by eating better and drinking more water. That Loreal serum must check if it is silicone free, might just snap it up if it is.

I'm confused about this whole 'detox' thing. I'm hearing people talk about it, but also hearing that detoxing our bodies is a myth - that it's not possible medically (we have organs that detox our body for us and that this is the latest 'fad') but diet and exercise is good for our bodies.
Maybe a good article on that, BH?

I disagree. Our organs can only cope with so much. They were not built for some of the toxins that we (humans) have created. For example mercury in the water that is now present in fish in Japan, and more recently plastic microbeads found in the stomachs of fish in Sydney and now Australia is going to phase the sale of microbeads in cosmetics in Australia.

I think the best thing is to eat well, drink plenty of water, and exercise.

I am doing my best this year to try and get my health better. I want to get healthy and on the inside as well as the outside. So I have already started eating alot better as I do have problems with my digestive track so hopefully eating better can settle this down.

I am doing a bit of a detox with recipes from The Healthy Chef book Perfect Digestive health at the moment - easy recipes! I also drink green tea as iced tea in summer instead of hot - tastes better!

I recently bough Jessica Sepel's "Get Healthy" book and will try the detox in there. You need to detox from the inside out!

I did a through clean of all of my brushes. Checked with beauty products are too old and disposed of them and got spares out of nearly finished products. And I have started using the Scholl foot file and it is needed at the moment!

I agree, this time of year is perfect for clearing out old products, streamlining beauty & starting or continuing good habits. I want to get fitter & I hope have my back issues improve with an upcoming procedure
